P1 Task 5 - Distribution

Image
The distribution channel that we will be using for our short film is social media networks. The reason for this choice is because social media shares a similar main demographic to the target audience of our short movie. An example of a social media platform that could be used to advertise a short movie on is Snapchat. There are 190 million active users daily on Snapchat with 37% of users being 18-24 years old. These statistics show that Snapchat would be an effective means of below the line advertising since by knowing Snapchat's main demographic, as an advertiser it is possible to cater advertisements to this demographic. In the case of our short movie by knowing that Snapchat's main demographic is the same as our movies target audience, by advertising on this platform we could reach a large number of our target audience by targeting them specifically.

Unit 1 LO3- Meaning In Media Products

Unit 1 LO3: Understand how meaning is created in media products. Codes - The familiar and predictable forms and techniques used by product when creating media texts. These are used to communicate ideas or convey a desired impression. There are two types of code: the technical and the symbolic. Technical codes are created through the way equipment is used to produce a media product. For example, a camera can be used to present a particular character's point of view. Conventions - The commonly accepted ways of doing things. There are general conventions in all products, such as the use of opening credits in audio-visual products. Conventions can be drama specific. Generically speaking - Media products are usually classified into categories and sub-categories. These categories are referred to as a product genre. By categorising a product its audience will have a set off expectations. Verisimilitude - How real the world of the story or narrat...

Targeting A Brief Task

1) Identify three target audience considerations for the brief. One target audience consideration is that Welsh Mocha wants to target both males and females with the product Another target audience consideration is that the want the product to be targeted towards people ages from late teens all the way through into their 40s, they would have to take this into account when making their product The last target audience consideration for Welsh Mocha is that they want to target people with a high disposable income, interest in relaxing with friends, or reading whilst drinking coffee or other refreshments. 2) Because of all of these preferences when designing the product they will have to take care to make sure that the design caters to the target audience. This will all depend on the design of the visual t shirt, logo, text, etc.

Time & Personel

Time Issues:  Time constraints can come in many forms and one of the most important aspects to keep in mind when planning a media production. The production of a media product is always carried out to meet a deadline that is often related to its final publication. Failure to meet this can often lead to the project failing and financial loss for the companies deadline. When planning the creation of a media production, timescales are often built backwards from this final deadline. This various phases of the production are then built into planning to meet this deadline. An example of this would be the release of a film, ready for the winter holiday season. Production would be planned back from this point. Personnel Issues: Gathering the right staff- the appropriate number, with the right skills and experience- for the media production is an important aspect of peer-production. During pre-production, the skills and experience of the personnel required will be considered. ...

UNIT 1 LO5

Be able to evaluate research data used by media institutions. Techniques and Methods:   Primary- Data that you have got/found out yourself. Secondary- Data that you get from someone else. Qualitative- Only getting a small amount of data but very detailed data. Quantitive- Getting a lot of data that is statistics or a simple yes or no. Why do media companies do research? Media companies do research into their target market to see what they like and/or dislike.

Audience pleasures- The main audience pleasures of a rom com movie are reliability, pleasure gained from the resolution and many more. Reliability is often the most obvious in a rom com movie this is basically when the audience feel like they can relate to the characters or the situation. Although lots of rom coms are dramatized and not completely true to real life much of the audience will be able to relate to being in some kind of relationship somewhat similar to the one in the movie. Following on from this this over dramatized 'love story' is a fantasy for much of the audience so they take pleasure in seeing this 'ideal' love story because they believe they might one day have a relationship like the one in the movie, this can be classed as escapism.  Escapism is basically when the audience escapes into the movie and feels like apart of it, this is very typical of rom coms. It could also be argued that predictability is a main audience pleasure since a lot of rom com...

Extended Assessment: Narrative Analysis

The narrative structure of the movie Memento can be analysed by looking at different theories of narrative structure. not much of the structure of this movie is anything normal, it is a very complicated movie with a very unique plot but it still follows the Todorov's theory of the narrative can be applied to Memento although it is more complicated, because the movie is not in chronological order the order in which the stages come vary. The start of the movie is actually where the disruption is although the audience doesn't learn that until right at the end of the movie. However this can be debated as the real disruption as Leonard killing his wife is more likely to be the real disruption. The attempt at repair was Teddy using Leonard's condition to his advantage to basically act as a vigilante and make Leonard kill criminals by making him believe its his wife kille r. Although it is hard to identify all the stages of Todorov's theory in Memento due to the unique plot ...
